PA Wellington The Automobile Association says it is gravely concerned that the level of Government funding of the National Roads Board will not enable any new roading work. . The general meeting of the association’s central region was told on Thurs-

day that Government funding of the board for 1986-87 was $429 million, from $402 million the previous year. The meeting chairman, Mr Frank Parkinson, said the board had hoped for at least a 10 per cent Increase, but that the new budget represented a rise of about 6 per cent “No new work can .be

undertaken by the board on this figure. New work already in progress will proceed, and the Government has indicated it will look at the situation again in March or April. "But as of now, the board is unable to fund any new work programmes whatsoever,” he said.
