Situations Vacant THE PAPUA NEW GUINEA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY ' APPLICATIONS are invited for these positions, in the following departments: DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE LECTURER SENIOR LECTURER IN SOIL SCIENCE APPLICATIONS are invited from persons who possess a basic degree in Agriculture or Chemistry from a recognised University and preferably with a Ph.D in Soli Science, preferably Soil Chemistry or Plant Nutrition. Only applicants with teaching experience In Soli Science In tropical countries will be considered. For Senior Lecturer position, applicants must have considerable teaching and research experience evidenced by a good number of publications in reputable scientific journals. This laboratory serves the University’s Departments of Geology, Forestry, Plant and Microbial Sciences and Zoology, the DSIR Geological Survey and Botany Division, and Lincoln College. Duties of the appointee Include specimen preparation, film processing, and the operation and maintenance of the scanning electron microscope and x-ray microanalysis facilities. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in electron microscopy and a general background in science. TECHNICIAN (GENETICS/ MOLECULAR BIOLOGY): The appointee will be required to prepare Genetics and Molecular Biology laboratories for teaching as well as to assist with research in these areas. A knowledge of microbiological skills, basic training In chemistry and an Interest In biochemistry would be advantageous. A willingness to learn new skills will be essential.

The salary for Technician Grade n Is on a scale from $19,044 to $21,603 per annum and for Grade I is on a scale from $14,544 to $18,481 per annum; commencing salary according to qualifications and experience.
