SENIOR TUTOR/LECTURER IN SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION G 661002 SOCIAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT GOROKA TEACHERS COLLEGE APPLICATIONS are Invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Senior Tutor/Lecturer In Social Science Education, University of Papua New Guinea, Goroka Teachers College. The position involves the training of Social Science Teachers for a two year Diploma in Teaching (Secondary). Graduates of the College are subsequently employed in Secondary Schools throughout the country.

Applicants should possess at least a first degree or higher In any one of the Social Science Disciplines, must have a teaching qualification, and experienced at teaching Social Science at secondary or tertiary level. A Masters degree is essential for appointment at lecturer level. Experience In teacher training in PNG or other developing countries would be highly advantageous and desirable. The successful applicant will be offered a three year contract with the possibility of renewal, and will be expected to take up duties in first semester, 1988. SALARIES Deputy Principal — K 23.255 p.a. plus gratuity Lecturer II — K 19,405 p.a. plus gratuity Senior Tutor n — K 19.405 p.a. 1 plus gratuity Lecturer I — K 17.555 p.a. plus gratuity Senior Tutor I — K 17.555 p.a. plus gratuity OTHER CONDITIONS The successful applicant will be normally offered a contract for a three year appointment ending at the end of a Semester. The gratuity entitlement is based on 24 per cent of salary earned and Is payable in instalments or lump sum and Is taxed at a flat rate of 2 per cent. In addition to the salaries quoted above, the main benefits include: support for approved research; rent-free accommodation; appointment and repatriation airfares for appointee and dependants; a settllng-ln and a.settling-out allowance; 6 weeks annual recreation leave with home airfares available after each 18 months of continuous service; generous education subsidies for children attending schools In PNG or overseas; a salary continuation scheme to cover extended Illness or disability.
