Westland inquiry
NZPA-Reuter London The London Stock Exchange has begun an investigation into share dealings in Britain’s Westland helicopter company, the “Financial Times” reported. The near-bankrupt manufacturer is the focus of two rival rescue blds, one from the Sikorsky division of United Technologies Corporation of the United States working with Fiat of Italy and another from a four-nation European consortium.
The debate over Westland’s future has already brought the resignation of two Government ministers and damaged the public standing of the Prime Minister (Mrs Thatcher).
