Bendon bid
Bendon Industries, Ltd, take-over of John Webster, Co, Ltd, will be made unconditional following Commerce Act consent, expected soon, Bendon said. More than 94 per cent of the John Webster capital — 5,243,375 shares, at the offer price of 235 c a share — is now subject to acceptance, it said. Remaining shareholders in John Webster now have until February 20 to accept. New post Murray White, one of the most well-known animal health company men in the South Island, has joined Ancare Distributors, Ltd, as South Island sales director. He was previously area manager for Coopers and Wellcome N.Z., Ltd, In the South Island. Steel exports • Steel exports from Australia and New Zealand are expected to fall by 27 per cent this year, the Organisation for Economic Co-opera-tion and Development forecasts. But the O.E.C.D. Steel Committee, in a recent report, said exports of steel mill products were estimated to have grown by 46 per cent between 1984 and 1985. Australia and New Zealand’s combined steel exports stood at 1.13 M tonnes in 1984.
