Print history
150 Years of Printing in New Zealand. Compiled by Tolla Wllllment. Government Printer, 1985. 72 pp. $4.95. The first book produced in New Zealand was printed by - the missionary, William Colenso, at Paihia in February, 1835. It was a Maori translation of a small portion of the New Testament. In the following 150 years printing has become a major industry and to mark its progress this slim booklet has been produced by the Government Printing Office, with the encouragement of the Bible Society in New Zealand. The booklet, itself a nice specimen of the printers craft, is intended for everyone interested in the printing industry.
