In search of bargains
Half the fun of a holiday is a shopping spree. An enterprising Auckland woman makes it even more enticing by offering wholesale shopping expeditions. Five times weekly avid bargain hunters pile into Julie Steele’s mini-bus and embark from downtown Auckland for a three and a half hour, 40km tour of the suburbs, returning with the cut price spoils of a profitable bargain hunt
“Fashion Tours” has been operating for two years ferrying bargain hunters from all parts of New Zealand. Locals also use the service and it is attracting increasing interest from overseas tourists.
As well as individual bookings, Julie also takes tours by arrangement — for groups of friends, clubs or people accompanying spouses on a conference.
