NZPA Staff Correspondent .Sydney Passengers on' jet airliners will soon be able to telephone any place in the world, says a Britishbased Australian - ' electronics engineer. ‘ . Mr Guntis : Berzins, an executive of the Londonbased international' satellite organisation, Inmarsat, has briefed Australian airlines Qantas, TAA and Ansett, as well as Overseas Telecommunications officials on the system. He said in Melbourne that a full-scale trial using Inmarsat’s satellite system would start next year, and airlines would soon after offer in-flight voice and data communication services. - ~ So far cost and technology limitations had prevented their introduction, he said, but the emer-; gence of satellite communications for other purposes, especially maritime use, had changed that.
