WITH IT

Atia high school in Christchurch there is a mathematics teacher deeply devoted to : her profession. This lady of much wisdom shall be Mrs G. As Mrs G likes to think she is good at her job, she prides herself on being able to talk to her girls not only on the most important subject — mathematics — but on a more casual and personal basis. ; Her “gals” became more receptive to her, teaching if they can look upon her as a 'pal, she claims. So there are many friendly snippets of conversation, covering many'subjects from males, to pop groups, or even their pet rats’ dislike of milk. Some will see common ground here. Near the end of last term, one girl

had been coming .to school with up-to-date reports on her mother’s condition as the time approached for the young student to have a new brother or sister.

One morning, while Mrs G’s powers of concentration were directed to Pythagoras and his familiar theorem, this friendly student approached her teacher and aid, excitedly, “I am going to hear the heart beat on Friday, Mrs G.” Although Mrs G is nearing her prime, she like to keep up with the girls’ interests and all the modem trends in which they are involved. She always likes to be with it But her young pupile was taken aback when Mrs G said:“Where are they playing, then?”
