Wool Board man takes I.W.S. post

A new position within the International Wool Secretariat to co-ordinate the marketing of woollen interior textiles throughout Western Europe has been filled by a 37-year-old New Zealander currently working for the Wool Board.

Mr John Grainger will take up his new appointment with I.W.S. as director — Interior textiles, Western Europe in February. Based in Brussels, he will be responsible through the I.W.S. branch structure for all I.W.S. activities in the marketing of wool carpets, furnishings and bedding throughout Western Europe. Exports of New Zealand wool to the region totalled $650 million (f.0.b.) in 1984-85 with the great majority used to manufacture interior textile products. The establishment of the new position within

LW.S.-recognises the importance of Western Europe, both as a manufacturing base and as a consuming market for wool carpets and furnishings, and the rapid growth in its international trade, and the growing interdependence of one country on another within Western Europe.
