Murder charges
PA Wellington Two people charged with murdering Murray Howell at Paraparaumu on December 28 last year, have been remanded in custody to February 7. The accused are Stanley Heremai Maihi, aged 20, a poultry slaughterman, and Michael Richard Coles, aged 16. Judge A. B. Beatson lifted an order for interim suppression of Coles’
name. Coles’ counsel, Mr B. Davidson, had asked for the order for suppression to continue because Cole was only 16. The Judge said that in view of the seriousness of the charge and the matter being dealt with in the District Court, the order would be lifted. The proceedings were transferred from the Children and Young Persons Court on January 13.
