Malaz in favour over Master Mood

Special correspondent Dunedin Malaz’s reliability at the start gives him an edge on Master Mood in the final of the Anngow Motors Championship at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting tomorrow night The $18,825 race looks a classic match race between these two openclass pacers. Each has won his heat easily and they start on level marks, 20m. Master Mood posted a track record for 2200 m of 2min 47.4 s (2min 2.55, mile rate) when he won on Wednesday night in his fifth straight success.

Malaz returned 3min 32s (2min 6.35, mile&rate) for the final disrance,

2700 m when successful last Saturday. Master Mood has won 14 races. Malaz has won 13. Master Mood tangled for a few strides early in his heat, doubling his 20m handicap. Malaz was away like a shot. The starting factor weighs in

favour of Malaz. The pair have met once this season — in the Invercargill Cup in October when Malaz led throughout and Master Mood finished fifth after tangling early. Master Mood has improved vastly since that race and Malaz has maintained splendid form.
