Micronesia
Sir, —For Micronesia, “almost independent” sounds about as free as the Netherlands uSlder Nazi occupation, and gives a'clue
to American feeling towards New Zealand. No wonder the United States goes along with South Africa’s despicable regime in the United Nations trust territory of Namibia. “Sacred trust” has become as debased as the word “gay.” The aim is purely military, Micronesia being docile territory to provide advanced bases for the Macarthur plan, never abandoned, to liberate China, and eventually Russia, for capitalist exploitation. The Micronesians, says American Ambassador Zeder, “want to get out on their own.” This sentiment, however hypocritical, is not accorded the free, independent, sovereign nation of New Zealand. — Yours, etc., VARIAN J. WILSON. January 27, 1986.
