Crequer moving north
Marty Crequer, the New Zealand wing, will play for the Northcote rugby league team in Auckland this winter.
Crequer, who came to prominence as a late replacement in last year’s tour to Great Britain and France, will move north in about three weeks.
The Hornby and Canterbury three-quarter believes that the type of game played in Auckland
will suit him. “One reason for my going is the style of play up there. They tend to play wider. I also want to get ahead in the game,” he said.
Another reason for Crequer’s departure is the fact that he will be under closer scrutiny by national selectors, including the Kiwi coach, Graham Lowe, while in Auckland. “Hopefully, it will be good for me,” he said.
