Chance for DBVB

Auckland

Dorothy Butler Video Books, Ltd, has been given a second chance to break even after threats to wind the company up were postponed. The company’s plan to sell video recordings of children’s books failed and it decided to shift its operation to Australia. A meeting of International Video Books, Ltd, a special partnership formed to finance production of the video master tapes, has given DBVB a month reprieve.

DBVB owes IVB $400,000 and IVB shareholders have offered to

wait until the end of February to see if the Austra- J lian venture is an economic proposition. r

Mrs Butler said she was ” confident the production . and marketing of the ?■ video books in Australia would turn a profit.

The size of the Australian market and savings in — packaging and sales tax meant the video cassettes could retail for $24.95, ' about $lOO less than they were offered to New * Zealanders. ;

Mrs Butler plans to sell her rights to existing and new video books to an Australian company for $30,000. That money would be paid to IVB.
