Council to assist groups

The Christchurch City Council will provide funds for typing and photocopying for neighbourhood support groups.

The council’s community services division already offers the service to neighbourhood committees and community centres recognised by the council. The council’s

community adviser, Mr Alistair Graham, asked the community services and health committee to make provision for the services because of the council’s support of neigh-

bourhood support groups. The service will be restricted to those groups under the umbrella of a recognised neighbourhood

committee. Mr Graham will also investigate the cost of erecting street signs noting an area as a neighbourhood with a support group. There was a lot of support in the United States for such signs, he said. The Waimairi District also had them.
