Dream Lustre impressive

Dream Lustre emerged as a top prospect for the major classics when he came from near last 500 metres out to gain a narrow but most impressive win in the Tropicana Pace. He was the second favourite for the race, in which the $2.40 chance, Laser Lad, lost his chance after less than 100 m.

Cintique Lass received a splendid run, one off the fence, and looked to have the result in safe keeping when she raced clear soon after turning for home. However, she could not withstand the dashing finish of Dream Lustre and went down by a short neck.

Fly Boyden Fly made ground for third, shading Quarter Shares, with Laser Lad doing well to dead-heat for fifth with Golden Wave.
