NZPA-Reuter Tokyo The Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, has found his own schoolgirl pen pal in Japan, taking a lead from his predecessor, Yuri Andropov, in his schoolgirl diplomacy.

Mr Gorbachev answered Aiko Fukuda, aged 12, from Nagoya when she sent a letter to the Kremlin before Christmas, said an embassy official.
