DFC head moves to Crown

PA Wellington The general manager of the Development Finance Corporation, Mr John Hunn, aged 48, has resigned to take up the managing directorship of Crown Corp, Ltd. The present deputy general manager of the DFC, Mr Murray Smith, who is chairman of the Railways Corporation, will become acting general manager of the DFC. Mr Hunn has been with the DFC for 12 years, the last 10 as chief executive. He previously held senior management positions with IBM New Zealand, Ltd, Hawker Siddeley International (New Zealand), Ltd, and William Cable, Ltd. The chairman of Crown, Sir Roderick Weir, said the appointment would bring new skills and experience to the company. He said Mr Hunn had developed the DFC from a "fledgling financial institution’’ to one with interests in several countries and an international reputation. Crown is a diversified

company with interests in agricultural and horticultural servicing, meat processing, financial services and agricultural machinery. With 22,000 shareholders and a market capitalisation of SI72M it ranks among the top 20 listed New Zealand companies. The former managing director of Crown, Mr Eric Millar, retired last December.
