N.Z. poets sought
The American Salute to the Arts poetry competition is seeking New Zealand entries. The contest has been run for the last 12 years by Triton College as an annual international poetry contest. In 1981 the contest changed its name from the All Nations Poetry Contest to the Salute to the Arts. The aim was to encourage greater participation from college poets by selecting outstanding poems and graphic arts works.
Winners in the contests have their work published in a Triton publication Ariel.
Contestants may submit three poems, one for each of three theme categories. The themes are Affirmation, Challenge, and Oppression. The poems are limited to 60 lines and should be original works. The poems will be judged by professors of Triton College, in Illinois. The award-winning poet, G. E. Murray, will select 10 winning poems in each category. The poems must be at the college at 2000 Fifth Avenue, River Grove, Illinois 60171-9983, the United States of America by March 31.
