RUNAWAY Tom Selleck, Cynthia Rhodes, Gene Simmons, Kirstie Alley RCA/Columbia/Hoyts 96min M 1984
This movie is set somewhere in the future and is not easy to slot into’ one particular category. Perhaps it would be best described as science fiction / action / adventure/ thriller. Whatever, it is a good story which maintains pace and interest throughout. Tom Selleck is Sergeant Ramsay, a police officer and family man with a small son (a , distinct change of role). When robots start to go haywire and people are killed, Ramsay finds himself caught in a deadly showdown with the madman responsible, an electronics genius played with flair by Gene Simmons. The special effects are very good, with no effort
made to disguise the fact that robots are machines — a touch which adds even more realism to the piece.
The cover slick is not the most eye-catching, but the movie is worth asking for at your library.
