Softball awards

PA Auckland Robyn Storer, of Canterbury, was voted the most valuable player of the world women’s softball tournament completed yesterday. Storer, the New Zealand centre field who batted .324, was the unanimous choice of the world press representatives who made the selection and picked an all-star team. Rita Fatialofa, the most valuable player of the 1982 tournament, was named allstar designated hitter. The most promising players were adjudged to be: Michelle Granger (United States), Liza Martinez (Puerto Rico), Shi Min Yue (China), Rhonda Hira (N.Z.), Anita Palm (Australia), Hua Jie (China), Griselle Ortiz (Puerto Rico).
