Demand high for houses
Timaru reporter
The demand for 20 Twizel houses being offered for sale by the Ministry of Works and Development has been overwhelming. Well over 100 applications have been returned to the Ministry’s Christchurch office and applications close today. The Ministry’s district property officer, Mr M. K. Williams, of Christchurch, estimates about 800 house purchase papers have been handed out to people throughout New Zealand which far exceeds the interest shown in other Twizel houses sold by the Ministry.
The houses are 720 square feet and 860 square feet in size and priced at $17,500 and $20,500 respectively. All sales will be for cash.
