Random Chance should be too good
Special correspondent Invercargill Random Chance towers above his rivals in the $13,000 Gore Guineas, the feature race at the Gore Racing Club’s summer meeting today. The highly-performed Three Legs colt, the winner of the New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas in November, will today face rivals of a lower class. Only Star Fraction, Ballajoy and Mr Magoo will be conceded any chance of testing him and they appear to have a forlorn task ahead of
them. Random Chance was third to Bonecrusher and Flight Bijou in the New Zealand Derby and fifth in the Trentham Stakes nine days ago. It will come as a major surprise if Random Chance’s colours are lowered. Star Fraction was runner-up to Bacton Abbey in the Dunedin Guineas, later fourth in the Wellington Derby. Star Fraction has the ability to race handily and has winning form at Gore this season to his credit. Ballajoy is a speedy
filly which could make matters interesting if allowed to get away too far in front. Her swiftness around the turning Gore track will be in her favour. Mr Magoo, a model of consistency, appears best of the others. Duaprove and Kade appeal as a likely pair for the Merino Boutique Handicap, the second leg of the T.A.B. double. Duaprove bounced back to her best at Omakau earlier this month and Kade is more reliable than most in this grade.
