An instructor, Shirley Jones, takes a combined senior and grade 4 class through barre exercises at the Christchurch Ballet Society’s residential dance school at Lincoln College yesterday. Miss Jones is the director of a ballet school in Australia and is in New Zealand to take classes in classical ballet for the society’s dance school which is being held this week. The classes include modern and classical ballet and Highland and national step dancing as well as repertoire and drama. Other instructors at the school include Dorothea Ashbridge, the ballet mistress of the Limbs Dance Company, and Elizabeth Moody, who is well known for her work in New Zealand theatre.
