A Voyager 2 photograph of Oberon, the outermost moon of Uranus. The photograph, the best acquired by the spacecraft, was taken from 656,000 km. Clearly visible are several large impact craters surrounded by bright rays. The craters are similar to those seen on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. Prominent near the centre of Oberon’s icy surface is a larger crater with a bright central peak and a floor partially covered with a very dark material. A large mountain, about 6km high, is also visible on the left-hand underside.
