Award to Patsy Riggir
NZPA-AAP Tamworth, New South Wales
John Williamson won two of the top awards at the week-end’s, annual festival of country music at Tamworth, northern New South Wales.
Williamson, best known for his hit “Old Man Emu,” was named the winner of the best male vocal and the best album awards at the Australasian Country Music Awards.
The awards were presented to an audience of 400 industry executives and staff at Tamworth High School.
The best female vocal award went to a New Zealand singer, Patsy Riggir, who won her third successive best female award.
A Sydney group, the Flying Emus, who play swinging Australian blue grass music, took awards for the best group and for best instrumental.
