Twins concert cancelled
Wet weather caused the cancellation of Saturday’s Thompson Twins rock concert at the Addington Show Grounds, said the promoter, Mr Chris Cole, yesterday. Rain had got into electrical equipment, including the speakers, and on the stage, whch made it dangerous for the groups to play because of the possibility of electric shock.
There is about a week before the Thompson Twins’ show in Auckland, but Mr Cole said that there was no possibility of holding a concert at the Show Grounds before the
group headed north because time was running out to get concert equipment to Auckland. Three other groups were also to play at the Show Grounds on Saturday evening — The Models, from Australia, and two New Zealand bands, Peking Man, and the Netherworld Dancing Toys. Mr Cole said that he had no idea how many tickets had been sold for
the Christchurch show — counting had only started yesterday.
Refunds can be obtained from the Christchurch Town Hall booking office.
A condition of ticket sales was that a refund of the price would be made only if the holder surrendered the ticket within 28 days of the cancellation of the show.
