Staff bring issues in to the office
PA Wellington Staff at the Commission for the Environment are on a go-slow over their offices. The staff claim that their environment is substandard and the State Services Commission is not looking after workers and is housing them in “buildings that defy reality.”
Commission staff say they will continue their action until all parties involved with their new working environment — owners, architects, the Ministry of Works and Development, the State Services Commission and themselves — have met to
thrash out the problems. They say there are added complications — for example, the air-cond-tioning system flushes hot and cold, depending on the area, and is linked to three other buildings. Staff also say there is only one exit point for seven floors of the buildings. Things took a turn for
the worse when the toilet system failed and staff were sent home on Tuesday. The Public Service Association has been called in to deal with the issue and meetings are under way to try and solve the problems.
