Heroin clamp wins
Heroin supplies have dropped off and prices have doubled in Thailand since July because of a Government crack-down and fighting between opium war-lords, anti-nar-cotics officials say. Dealers in the northern province of Chiang Mai sell heroin from the Golden Triangle region — straddling Thailand, Burma and Laos — at 5U54444 a 700 gram lot Western anti-narcotics officers said the 100 per cent price jump indicated' that the Thai Army and police had reduced the flow of heroin-refinihg chemicals smuggled from Thailand to opium producers in Burma. — Bangkok.
