Ubix Cup success to Nth Canterbury

North Canterbury beat Buller by 37 runs in a rain shortened minor association Übix Cup cricket match at Westport yesterday.

North Canterbury did well to score 193 for five declared on a damp wicket yesterday morning with the captain, Mike Johnston, opening with a bright 30. It was an 81-run partnership for the third wicket between John Masefield and Mike Satherwaite that sealed the game for North Canterbury.

Masefield was finally bowled for 62 while Satherwaite made 45.

In reply Buller was all out for 156.

An opener, Chris Sherlock, hit out for 25 runs

but the next three batsmen went out for as many runs before the captain, David Baird, restored some respectability to the innings with 73 not out. He and Graham Aldridge combined in a 100run partnership before Aldridge was out for 35. The last five batsmen were able to contribute just one run between them. Scoreboard.— NORTH CANTERBURY M.
