Body found, man missing

PA Invercargill The body of a climber who fell about 240 metres off the south east ridge of Mount Tutoko in Fiordland was found by searchers yesterday. The police hold little hope of finding his companion alive. The body has not yet been identified.

The two men are Paul Ross Moloney, aged 25, and Peter Robert Whitehead, aged 22, both of Auckland.

A 30-member search party found the body about 2.20 p.m., along with a pack and gear scattered down the ridge.

The search for the other man will continue today, although the search party will be reduced to eight and a helicopter.
