Tourists hurt in crash

PA Invercargill One Japanese tourist is seriously ill and five others are in a comfortable condition in hospital after their minibus rolled near Te Anau yesterday. Fourteen Japanese tourists and their guide were injured when the bus left the Te Anau-Mossbum highway and rolled at about 8.40 a.m. The Ministry of Transport said the vehicle apparently slid in loose gravel about 10km south of

Te Anau. Four ambulances took the tourists 150 km to Kew Hospital in Invercargill. Six were admitted, and four others were treated for minor cuts and bruising and discharged. The minibus was taking the tourists to Invercargill to catch a noon flight when it failed to take an S-bend and left the road, crashing through a fence and. coming to rest on its side in a paddock. The driver was not hurt.
