Pilot flies home
PA Greymouth An Australian aviator, Peter Norvill, left Hokitika Airport for home yesterday after claiming the title of being the first person to fly from Tasmania to New Zealand in a single-engine aircraft His departure for Australia at 7 a.m. was believed to be the first international flight to leave Hokitika. Mr Norvill made his journey from Hobart in his Cessna Hawk XPII on Wednesday in 10 hours and seven minutes, landing at Christchurch Airport. He said yesterday he hoped to set a world record on the return trip. He expected to land at Lord Howe Island about 4 p.m. New Zealand time and would later carry on to Sydney, a further three hours away.
