The touring Australian under-20 Emus cricket team waltzed to an easy eight-wicket win over the Canterbury under-20 Moas in a one-day match at Hagley Oval yesterday. The Moas, sent in on a good batting track, made 245 for six off its 50 overs. D. R. Cusack’s handsome 96, including 13 fours, was the highlight of Canterbury’s

all-round performance, followed by D. R. Halligan’s useful 40. Bowling for the Australians, P. Browning took two for 58 and C. Howarth two for 44.

In reply the, Emus reached 249 in the fortyninth over for the loss of only two wickets. G. Thrift hit three sixes in his brilliant 126 not out, and R. Anderson made 91.
