SENIOR TECHNICIAN/ TECHNICIAN (ELECTRON MICROSCOPE): The appointee will be required to run the Scanning Electron Microscope Laboratory housed In the Department. This laboratory serves the University’s Departments of Geology, Forestry, Plant and Microbial Sciences and Zoology, the DSIR Geological Survey and Botany Division, and Lincoln College. Duties of the appointee Include specimen preparation, film processing, and the operation and maintenance of the scanning electron microscope and x-ray microanalysis facilities. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in electron microscopy and a general background In science. TECHNICIAN (GENETICS/ MOLECULAR BIOLOGY): The appointee will be required to prepare Genetics and Molecular Biology laboratories for teaching as well as to assist with research in these areas. A knowledge of microbiological skills, basic training in chemistry and an Interest in biochemistry would be advantageous. A willingness to learn new skills will be essential. The salary for Technician Grade II is on a scale from $19,044 to $21,603 per annum and for Grade I is on a scale from $14,544 to $18,481 per annum; commencing salary according to qualifications and experience.
