Director named
By

in Wellington Sir Ronald Trotter, chairman of the Business, Roundtable organisation pas announced the' appointment of Mr Roger Kerr as its executive director.
Mr Kerr is now/ working in the fiscal affairs branch of the Treasury. The Roundtable secretary, Mr Geoff Whltcher, said the appointment does not signal a new higher profile for the organisation. Until 1983 the existence of the group of top business executives was virtually unknown. It has taken a more public stand since the Economic Summit conference in 1984, but Mr Whitcher says there is no intention to surplant the role of bodies such as the Manufacturers’ Federation.
The job will be a combination of Government lobbying, public relations and administration.
Mr Whitcher said the key to the success of Roundtable was its informality. Members previously met at the home of one person but, since the group has grown from 12 to 30, this has become impractical.
Sir Ronald said Roundtable aims to provide chief executives with a forum in which to discuss significant issues of common concern and to contribute to public policy formation by developing and promulgating views on key issues.
