Obituary Mr Robert Myers
PA Dunedin Mr Robert Myers, a former director of the D.1.C., Ltd, has died in Dunedin after a short illness. He was 85.
Mr Myers was bom in Wellington. His association with Dunedin began in 1929 when he joined the D.I.C. as assistant gen-
eral manager. He became a director of the company in 1932 when D.I.C. had stores in Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington and Wanganui. From 1933 to 1941 he was the company’s general manager. He retired as a director in June, 1972. A former president of
the Dunedin R.S.A., he
held the rank of lieuten-ant-colonel during World War II as deputy assistant director of ordinance services in the Pacific. He
was awarded the American Legion of Merit. Mr Myers was a former president of the Otago Chamber of Commerce
and also the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand. He served on the Patriotic Fund Board and was chairman of the Montecillo War Veterans Home. He is survived by his wife, a son, a stepson, and a stepdaughter.
