Runneth impresses at Woodville
Special correspondent Palmerston North Runneth continued to impress in his build-up to the rich Jarden Mile at Trentham tomorrow with another rousing gallop at Woodville yesterday. In company with Hassendean and Flight to Reno, Runneth worked from the 1600 m, running the 1400 m in Imin 28s and the last 600 m in 375. - Nigel Tiley, who has been riding in Malaysia and Singapore for the last two and a half years, has the Runneth mount in the Jarmen.
Runneth has not raced since finishing third to Coronal at Hastings on January 3 but he goes well fresh and despite a wide draw is in with a real chance tomorrow. Sir Vigilant and Ezra Brown completed their 1400 m task in Imin 30s, the last 1000 m in Imin 4s and final 600 m in 37.45. Jirob, which contests the Wellington Police Centenary Handicap, strode over 1000 m in Imin 2s. Rumbaba and Mother Earth went 800 m in 47.85, the last 600 m in 365. Rumbaba was impressive in
winning a maiden event on her home track earlier in the month. She is in the Eltham Improvers at Egmont tomorrow. Whata Beauty, another contender for the Wellington Police Centenary Handicap, clocked Imin 18.9 s for 1200 m with the last 600 m taking 38.75. Mac’s Gamble and Mac’s Queen went from 1000 m in Imin Is, the last 600 m in 35.45. Phareef, a strong prospect in the Kelburn Handicap at Trentham, worked with .. Secret-Seal over 800 m in 48s, the last 600 m in 365.
