The appointment will be made in terms of Section 29 of the State Services Act, 1962. The Government Statistician is responsible for the implementation of the Statistics Act, 1975. The principal duties are to act as the administrative head and controller of the Department of Statistics and the appointee will have such duties, functions and powers as are conferred by the Statistics Act or any other Act. Applicants should have a tertiary qualification in mathematics, economics, commerce or statistics. Some knowledge of the scope of the Department’s activities, a proven record of administration and management skills are essential, along with experience in. the field of econometric or social statistical analysis.
