Thrust improving
PA Hastings Thrust stripped in great condition at Hastings yesterday and has obviously thrived since his race at last Saturday’s Hawke’s Bay meeting. Galloping was carried out on the plough (fast) and the No 1 grass (easy). Thrust faces a tough assignment this Saturday when he contests the Whyte Handicap at Trentham, but any rain will enhance his chances. His trainer, Mike Lange, rode Thrust yesterday morning and worked him over an easy 800 m on the plough, the last 600 m in 43 seconds. Thrust will have another change of rider on Saturday, with David Walsh taking the mount. Loredo showed more dash than usual when sprinting 800 m on the No 1 grass in
49.35, the last 600 m in 36.65. He needed his race at Hastings last Saturday and is in the Woburn Handicap at Trentham on Saturday. Deltello was shading Le Pal at the end of a circuit on the plough, the last 800 m in 53.65, and the final 600 m in 40.85. Korvaro finished ahead of an in the Purple Dark Rata gelding after 600 m on the plough in 37.65. Korvaro, a former promising galloper, is now in the care of
David Pocock and Gordon Kelt. Red Sierra and Sarnie took the time honours of the morning when running the last 600 of their 800 m workout in 365. The full 800 m took 52.85. Hayle and Classical Rock sprinted 800 m in 50.55, while Vam Paree ran 600 m on the No 1 grass in 40.85. Proud Erin ran 800 m in 55.6 s the last 600 m in 41.45, while graphic covered three rounds of pacework on the plough.
