Twenty-third Foodtown opens

PA Auckland Progressive Enterprises, Ltd, has opened its twentythird Foodtown store, in Tauranga. The 3500 sq. m supermarket resulted from the acquisition and expansion of the

Bay Traders Store, which Progressive bought after it closed last year. It is the first time Progressive’s distribution system has been extended beyond the 150 km limit from Auckjand.

The company is using direct delivery and licensed transport operators to deliver stock from its Auckland warehouse. It is believed that Progressive’s land and buildings total about S3BM

value after revaluations this year (at 90 per cent of independent valuation) of $9.45M. The company owns 15 of its Foodtown stores.
