Clyde dam talks break down
PA Dunedin Clyde dam site agreement negotiations would not resume until certain conditions are met by the jointventure contractors, ZublinWilliamson, the combined private trades union have decided at a meeting in Dunedin.
The meeting was called to consider tentative resumption dates of yesterday and tomorrow, but this was rejected. The negotiations ended five weeks ago with agreement to reassess the respective positions of the company and the unions during the following month.
In the meantime the company met Ministers and officals, and some statements made by company representatives have upset the unions.
The Otago Drivers’ Union reimposed bans on the movement of goods and services to the dam site, and until it receives guarantees from the joint venture that progress will be made in negotiations, the ban will not be lifted.
A secret ballot is being held for a 24-hour strike in support of the F.0.L., but the result will not be known until next week.
