Proof apemen exist, says Chinese paper

NZPAPeking A Chinese scientific expedition researching “apemen” has discovered numerous proofs of the existence of such hybrids, part-man and partape, in south-west China, a provincial Chinese newspaper has reported.

The “Zhejiang” newspaper said that the team, organised by the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences late last year, had found evidence and had photographs “proving the existence of apemen.”

According to the evidence, the Yunnan apeman is slightly larger than a normal man. It has large, protruding eyes and hair down to its shoulders, and it does not usually wear clothing.

Hu Deren, a peasant interviewed by the scientists, said that an “apewoman” had entered his cabin one day in 1967 while he was in bed. He said she lay beside him for several minutes, but

he did not describe her. Descriptions by peasants in Cangyuan, a district of Yunnan province inhabited mostly by ethnic minorities, differ substantially from those of “monkeymen” studied by another expedition in the central Chinese province of Hubei several years ago. The latter, better known as the “wildmen of Hubei,” were generally described as more than two metres tall with brown or russet hair covering the body. The "Zhejiang” newspaper also reported the discovery in 1980 of another strange animal in the Yunnan, district. According to descriptions by Li Yingchang, a peasant who captured the animal in 1980, it resembled a kind of monkey that exisits only in Indonesia. He kept only the left paw and a small part of its brain, leaving little for scientists to study.
