300 detained
More than 300 people have been detained by security forces in Trincomalee, the north-eastern port city in Colombo which has been rocked by ethnic violence for nearly three weeks in which 10 people died. The arrests are in connection with acts of race-related violence including murder, looting and arson. — Colombo.
