Journalism for Maoris
PA Wellington The Maori news magazine, “Tu Tangata,” will run a six-week journalism course for Maori and Pacific bland students aimed at boosting multi-racial input into the New Zealand news media.
The editor of “Tu Tangata,” Mr Philip Whaanga, said the course also aimed to provide a national network for writers for “Tu Tangata” which will be published monthly instead of bimonthly from next year. The course, catering for 12 students, will begin on August 15 at Waiariki Community College in Rotorua, with journalists from various branches of the news media giving assistance.
