Switch means smooth system for Savercentre
THE advent of the Savercentre passbook savings scheme has brought with it the need for sophisticated automation in all Broadbank branches throughout the country.
The company has bought a Philips system of banking terminals which will be fully operational in all branches by the end of October.
The system, the latest on the market, will do away with virtually all Savercentre paperwork and greatly improve service to customers. The terminals will mean tellers can handle large
volumes of business at a rate that won’t keep customers waiting. Customer account information will be contained on a magnetic stripe in the passbook which will be read by the computer for instant identification. The system will automatically update passbook balances from information held at the central main-frame computer and will be linked to the Anytime automatic teller machines so that transactions are recorded the next time a passbook is presented by any branch.
