Polytechnic going to the Coast
People on the West Coast will get an opportunity to attend Christchurch Polytechnic computer courses when Polytechnic staff and equipment travel to Greymouth next month. Nine microcomputers will be set up in Greymouth on Tuesday, August 23, for four days of introductory courses. These will include programming on microcomputers, using the BASIC language, and will introduce the subject of microcomputer systems for small businesses.
Representatives from DEC, Micro Age, and a local Commodore agent will present their systems at the seminar on microcomputers for small businesses. Approaches from the West Coast Regional Development Council and the Westland Catchment Board were primarily responsible for the decision to hold the courses on the West Coast, says the manager of the Polytechnic’s computer resource centre, Mr Derham McAven.
