New Brighton R.S.A. bowlers successful
Peter and Jan Logan, and Harry and Kay Williams (New Brighton R.S.A.) will represent Canterbury in the eastern zone finals of the B.N.Z. mixed fours at Timaru next weekend. Logan’s team dominated play in the Christchurch final against Noel and Ngaire Tomlinson, Pat Humm, and Kevin Weallens (Spreydon School) to finish a clear-cut winner, 17-4. Noel Tomlinson fought a tight game against Bev. and Owen Tomlinson, Peter Van Ooassanen and Kathy Gaspar (Northcote) to enter the final with an 8-6 win.
Logan came from behind to defeat Maurice and Emma Borland and Noelene and Jack Burrows in their semi-final. Borland held a 7-2 lead on the
fifth end, but failed to score over the next four ends, losing
8-11. Eastern zone finalists will compete in the national final to be held at Nelson. From 72 entries, 26 qualified for post-section play in the elemination tournament. Results.— Last 16 — P. R.
