South Island company expands, marketing Designmark garages
Versatile Garages competes strongly in the Christchurch market for prefabricated garages, and has recently extended to selling in the North Island as well.
There is now a second branch, located in Rotorua.
Winner of a Designmark award for its metal-clad, timber-framed garages, Versatile has also found a market in Australia, with
offices and agents in New South Wales and Queensland.
' - Versatile Garages started business in 1975, and has expanded rapidly. It now offers a range of 62 garages and can supply a finished garage for less than a home handyman would pay for the materials. Apart from the large range of standard garages, Versatile will also quote for
garages built to the customer’s own specifications. Versatile’s bulk-buying power and method of manufacture accounts for the firm’s ability to provide a garage, erected and including the permit, for less than the cost of building one’s own. The efficient, automated factory takes care of each stage, from design and precutting through to the finished product. In most cases, customers will find that finance can be arranged, should they wish to invest in a garage immediately and pay for it over an extended period.
A garage can also serve as an outdoor, covered, recreation area or a workshop or storage area. For not much extra cost, it may be possible to have the equivalent of a spare room. In any case, a good quality garage can add value to the property as well as protect a major asset. It is not good for a car to be left out in the winter, quite apart from the inconvenience of having to scrape frost off the windscreen in the mornings. A garage can thus give protection, security and longer life to the vehicle it shelters, and provide an in-
vestment at the same time. Versatile Garages offers a choice of weather-board, flexiboard, concrete block or metal cladding, but the firm’s Colorsteel garages are proving particularly popular. Colorsteel is a new, scuffresistant, durable finish developed after extensive research between Paint Coating Specialists and New Zealand Steel. Versatile will soon be moving into a new factory of 1672 square metres at 750 Baisweil Junction Road — a move which reflects the company’s continuing success and expansion.
